EarthDay~EarthWalkers

In honor of Earth Day's 40th Anniversary (just three days after my parent's celebrated their 41st) I'd like to share two videos.

It's no coincidence that my parents anniversary and Earth Day are both celebrating four decades, Lynn and Morris have been fighting for the earth and sharing information about conservation, sustainability and recycling since long before it was the 'cool' thing to do.

My father wrote a beautiful poem many years ago called "When" this video is a shorter
version of the original poem, put to video and music for a contest... but the original message is still there - if not now, WHEN?

Of course, many of you know that as soon as Skye and I were able to hold instruments, we went on the road with our parents as the EarthWalkers. We were fortunate enough to see many places before we were even teenagers, including Hawaii, the Canary Islands, and more than 45 of the United States. In all of these places, there was one message that we carried with us, take care of your habitat!

My parents believed that teaching children about the world around them and their
effect on it would be the finest way to shape future generations into lifelong environmentalists - and they were right!

In the past 15 years since we've been off the road, we have continued to get letters from students who saw us perform all over the country. They claim that seeing the EarthWalkers, hearing our music and laughing at our comedy was one of the reasons they began to reduce, reuse & recycle before they were old enough to worry about whether or not it was popular.

What a compliment this has been to our family - to know that we made a lasting impact, even if just a few folks were galvanized into action. Someday, we will edit together the many hours of footage, our original music and written words into a documentary to share. Meanwhile, here is a preview of our story.

Happy Earth Day to you all, let's take better care of each other and our precious habitats!

Happy Anniversary mom & dad, thank you for teaching us how important mother earth is and for giving us the most amazing childhood a kid could dream of - you are truly an inspiration.

Only after the last fish has been caught.
