Do you remember The EarthWalkers?

DO YOU REMEMBER THE EARTHWALKERS?

If you are between the ages of 25 and 38 - you may have seen a School Assembly when you were in Elementary, Jr. High or High School. The show was composed of a family of four: the dad, Morris; the mom, Lynn; the son, Skye; and the daughter, Amye Walker. They were called The EarthWalkers and they spent a number of years in the 80's and 90's doing shows all over the United States about the environment.

Morris played the guitar and sang, he also wrote most of the comedy for the shows. Lynn wrote a lot of the information about ecology, the environment and health, she also had a lovely voice and sang a lot of the songs. Skye played the banjo and was a natural comedian from a very young age - he could take the scripts written by his dad, Morris and turn them into a great on-stage slapstick show. Amye, the youngest EarthWalker also had a little bit of comedy timing, and she sang, but mostly she was just precocious and stubborn. She would spend time after the show (while the rest of the family was packing up the Gladiator van with their equipment) going to the classrooms and talking to the kids and selling audio tapes to the teachers. A lot of kids will probably remember the song Habitat that Amye sang because it's the kind of song you just can't get out of your head!!!

If you remember the EarthWalkers, we'd like to hear from you. If you are interested in helping with the documentary about the EarthWalkers, we'd also like to hear from you! The documentary will be entered into film festivals, and distributed throughout the United States.

The EarthWalkers have always cared about the environment and made it a huge part of their stage show. Many of the songs and comedy skits were designed to help kids remember to take care of the Earth they live on! Over the years, the EarthWalkers received hundreds of letters from kids, teachers, community members, fans, tv stations and Environmental organizations who wrote to say how much they appreciated what the EarthWalkers were doing and how very important their message was. From the beginning, Morris and Lynn Walker knew the environment was going to play a crucial part in the future of the next generation - and now in 2007, we find ourselves in a critical situation... how do we stop using the limited resources we have, find new ways to do things that are Earth Friendly, and not only Save the Planet - but Save Ourselves!

Morris and Lynn had the right idea and they also knew that the children were the ones to teach. The question is, did the 1000's of shows that the EarthWalkers did make a difference in the kids that saw them?

If you are one of those kids, teachers, principals or just a fan - please contact us today!

I remember you! I see from your MySpace that you're in Corvallis, Oregon. If you'd like to make the trek up to Portland, I'll be here till mid december and we could meet up. Maybe I could help you with your documentary. Let me know what you think. - Kyla
